Brig Black, 2012 Chapter President
I am privileged to serve the membership of the San Diego Chapter of NAIOP and lead a truly professional, energetic Board of Directors as President in 2012. We are dedicated to maintaining our chapter as the prominent and relevant voice for commercial real estate.
NAIOP San Diego will continue to build on its success in delivering superior programming + educational opportunities, networking opportunities, community involvement and strong legislative leadership. Coming into an election year, we will be spending time, focus and resources as an organization to educate our membership and inform the public about policies and issues that affect our industry and community.
I'd like to mention a few areas where our NAIOP members will enjoy an excellent return on their membership investment through an intensified and expanded effort:
Enhanced Legislative Affairs role
NAIOP will be participating in several Mayoral Debates and creating opportunities for our members to meet candidates. On Wednesday, January 18th NAIOP will be involved as panel members at the ULI Candidates Forum at USD (information can be found at: http://ulisd.org/2011/12/486/). You are all welcome to attend. We are happy to also invite you to attend our 6th Annual Breakfast with the Mayor being held on Thursday, February 2, 2012. To register go to: www.naiopsd.org/events. Also, the NAIOP Legislative Affairs Committee meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 8 am at the NAIOP offices at Sheppard Mullin (12275 El Camino Real, 2nd Floor) - You are welcome - please join us - RSVP to Karen@naiopsd.org.
Engaging Developing Leaders Program
In its 6th year, NAIOP San Diego is proud to invite any of our members to participate in this program. The Mentorship Program will kick off in late February and is a terrific program whose aim to connect, educate and build relationships. The first Lunch & Learn will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at noon at Campus Point. To register go to www.naiopsd.org/events. Additionally, in the fall, we will host our 4th Annual NAIOPalooza event, open to all and a great fun day that you will not want to miss.
Advancing Community Giving
The Chapter's dedication to the Marines continues into 2012 as we see 2 companies thru 2 deployments. Our 12th Annual Golf Tournament being held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Coronado will benefit the fine men of the 1st Marines Special Operations Battalion. We will continue to support HomeAid, HeadNorth Foundation, Seals Warfare Foundation and will hold clothing drives and our well known Thanksgiving Food Drive to help those less fortunate. We welcome your input on how we can better serve our industry and community thru our giving, please don't hesitate to bring ideas to my attention.
I would like to thank all of our members, corporate and media sponsors for their support and involvement with NAIOP. I encourage everyone to get involved, participate and take advantage of the most dynamic organization in our industry.
Sincerely,
Brig Black
